About WAVE
WAVE is proudly Canadian owned and operated. Our headquarters is currently located in Edmonton Alberta. WAVE was created in 2002 as an experiential adventure skills training company. Over the years and with invaluable contributions from a number of individuals WAVE has evolved into one of Canada's premier rescue, medical and safety skills training agencies. Our vision remains the same: We are committed to providing industry leading training opportunities and services coupled with outstanding ongoing support and professional administration.
Safety is the foundation of all of our services and this is the emphasis in all that we do. We pride ourselves not only in the content of our services but believe one of our true strengths is our ability to deliver the material in a manner in which people can relate to. The letters of WAVE also stand for Western AdVenture Education.
WAVE’s Objectives
- To provide a full spectrum of state of the art, dynamic service oriented training opportunities.
- To work together with other organizations within the community to foster the growth and development of globally recognized and applied standards and protocols.
- To provide the highest quality certification and instructional programs with up to date teaching resources, the latest technical equipment and highly skilled and experienced instructors. We spend a tremendous amount of time selecting and training our instructors. All of our instructors are certified and have real world experience.
- To customize each experience to ensure our customers receive the most relevant services to reflect their working environment.
- We strive to continually exceed the expectations of program participants by packaging all of the above with a refreshingly new, interactive and creative delivery which will prove to not only increase the participants ability to apply the skills but also lend to a truly enjoyable training experience.
We take pride in all of our programs and believe that by participating in a WAVE program you are getting the best of the best of rescue services and programming.
Our Partners in Certification and Accreditation
We believe that in order to achieve our objectives it was imperative to seek and associate with organizations who share the same commitment to excellence. Please take a look at the company links below to learn more about our certifying bodies.
Rescue 3 is recognized as the leading rescue, instructional, and research company throughout the world. Instructors certified by Rescue 3 teach state-of-the-art courses in swift water, rope, helicopter, boat-based and other technical rescue protocols. Over 70,000 students spread across twelve different countries have experienced the Rescue 3 International difference. In 1999, there was a major revision in the curriculum to meet the requirements of the new National Fire and Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 on Technical Rescue for water and rope. Rescue 3 classes are the most widely recognized including many emergency management agencies, Parks Canada, fire departments, wilderness outfitters and associations.
Wilderness Medical Associates Canada is committed to supplying the highest quality medical training to outdoor enthusiasts and professionals. Many other programs, regardless of experience, offer courses called "Wilderness First Responder," and "Wilderness EMT." Some of these programs are nothing more than a repackaging of urban medical courses, taught by MD's or paramedics, who have little to no experience dealing with the unique concerns of prolonged transport. This means that you as a student must look into the credentials of instructors and organizations offering this training.
ARCA and Paddle Canada are proud to offer paddling certifications through Paddle Canada and the Alberta Recreational Canoe Association.
